-Because of ALL of the THINGS, decluttering never rises to the top of your ALL TOO FULL TO- DO LIST!

After the Challenge

-You’ve freed up energy and your creative magic mojo is back

-Your creative workspace is looking and feeling less like an oasis for your imagination and more like a keep out zone

-Your creative workspace is welcoming, functional and mirrors your highest intentions

-You’ve made time for a short, fun process that works on physical clutter and yields inner transformation

WHY CREATIVE PEOPLE ARE UNIQUELY AFFECTED BY CLUTTER

Everyone deals with clutter from time to time. Creative people and creative professionals, however, are more impacted by physical clutter because they also have to manage emotional clutter (e.g. inner critics, fear, self-doubt, envy, periods of perfectionism) that are unique to the cycles of imagination and innovation. Physical clutter can intensify emotional clutter.

Here's how clutter may be showing up for you NOW:

•A lack of focus and clarity
•Feelings of stress and anxiety, which can inhibit creativity
•Time wasted (too many unorganized ideas, half-started projects)
•Avoidance behaviors
•Shame and guilt

This decluttering challenge will transform your relationship to your space and your creative life

How does it work?
This is a Feng Shui inspired challenge. Feng Shui is the Chinese art and philosophy of placement. Multiples of 9 are consider powerful in Feng Shui.

You give away, recycle or toss 27 items every day over the 9 day period.

The items can be as small as a paper clip or dried up pen (I bet you have some of those laying around). It is simple but requires focus. The challenge will cover not only your creative space but other parts of your house.

What will happen?
During the 9 days you will have a number of inner and outer shifts. These are just some of them:

-Feel Inspired
-Enhanced Focus
-Feel that your dreams are possible
-Improved Productivity
-Unleashed Creativity
-Enhanced Emotional Well-being
-Rediscovering Forgotten Materials

About Michele Tracy Berger, Ph.D

Dr. Michele Tracy Berger is a professor, an award-winning writer, a creativity coach and a pug-lover.

Her main love is writing speculative fiction, though she also is known to write poetry and creative nonfiction, too.

At the age of six, Michele’s mother turned a walk-in closet into creative space just for her daughter. That closet became a portal and gateway to self-expression. Michele pretended that Will Robinson, a character on the television show Lost in Space was her brother and that she fought alongside Lindsay Wagner who played The Bionic Woman. And, she went on many other adventures. From that age on, Michele never doubted the power of the imagination.

In 2004, Michele launched The Creative Tickle®, a coaching practice that utilizes her fun and accessible approach to creativity, specializing in helping writers.

Her fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Apex MagazineSLAY: Stories of the Vampire NoireConcrete Dreams: Witches, Warriors and Wise WomenAfromyth: A Fantasy Collection Volume 2Stories We Tell After Midnight #2UnCommon Origins: A Collection of Gods, Monsters, Nature and ScienceFlying South: A Literary Journal100 Word StoryThing Magazine; Blood and Bourbon, andFIYAH: Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction.

Her nonfiction writing and poetry have appeared in The Chapel Hill News, The Wild Word Magazine, Glint Literary Journal, Oracle: Fine Arts Review, Trivia: Voices of Feminism, The Feminist Wire, Ms. Magazine, Carolina Woman Magazine, Western North Carolina Woman, A Letter to My Mom (Crown Press), Luminescent Threads: Connections to Octavia Butler (Twelfth Planet Press) and various zines.

She is the 2019 winner of the Carl Brandon Kindred Award from the Carl Brandon Society for her story "Doll Seed" published in FIYAH: Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction.

In 2020, her science fiction novella, "Reenu-You" about a mysterious virus transmitted through a hair care product billed as a natural hair relaxer, was published by Falstaff Books. Much of her work explores psychological horror, especially through issues of race and gender.

She runs an award-winning blog called ‘The Practice of Creativity’ and was a recent columnist for The Chatham County Line.

Michele has been a judge for a variety of fellowships and book prizes awarded through Carolina Wren Press, Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities, and the North Carolina Writers’ Network (NCWN).

She is immediate past President of the board of the North Carolina Writers’ Network (NCWN) and President of the North Carolina Literary and Historical Association.
